Kaiterra Sensedge Fixed Air Quality Monitor
This indoor air quality monitor can be used in homes, buildings, office, worksites, hospitals and more. This fixed indoor air quality device is different to many other devices on the market for many reasons:
- It has accurate calibrated Sensors inside the unit. The sensors are RESET certified to be accurate. This is an independent body that confirms the data from this unit is accurate.
- This unit meets the requirements for WELL certification in buildings
- The units themselves don’t need to be serviced. Instead the sensors can be sent to us for calibration and sent back fully calibrated.
- It has a 7 Inch touch screen that enables much easier and user initiative access to various options on the screen
Modular sensors are a unique feature about this particular unit. In addition to being ease of servicing, this gives flexibility around specific elements you want to test in your environment. Along with having PM2.5 and temperature as standard. The devices sensors can be customised to detect
- Carbon monoxide
Connectivity and Data Logging
We are very impressed with the data logging options included with the unit. We currently recommend using the inbuilt Kaiterra software to export data and user alerts to your email. This could be handy if you are concerned about a particular issue in the office environment.
For instance, if you have too many people in your office, you may want to look at your carbon dioxide levels. The unit has the functionality to alert the user if the carbon dioxide levels exceed a particular limit. In which case you can increase ventilation throughout the day to achieve a healthy working environment.
While the ordinary Kaiterra software is excellent, some people may want more functionality. The unit boasts additional automation options like Open API, Modbus, Bacnet and more. This is excellent news for people who want to integrate HVAC ventilation functionality.
Many clients will integrate the open API with an external software to control when HEPA filtration is turned on inside their property. For instance, if the pollution levels exceed a predetermined amount deemed unsafe, the user can have their fixed installation HEPA filtration unit to turn on to remove the particulate out of the air. We have heard of some people integrating outdoor fans with the unit by automatically turning on negative air ventilation fans drawing air from outdoors when the CO2 exceeds allowable limits. The integration possibilities are endless.
The Kaiterra App
The user is able to view the current outdoor air quality and compare it with the current indoor air.
Display of the Air Quality in Your office
There is a web display provided that shows the indoor air quality of your office. Such information can be displayed on the screen inside entrance areas to your office.
Air pollution is a serious problem indoors which can be helped through the use of air scrubbers. The question is how many air scrubbers are required if any is required at all and when do they have to be serviced or turned on. These questions can be answered by checking the PM2.5 levels in the unit.
Can Air Quality Monitors Detect Mould?
Many customers ask us if the Kaiterra Sensedge device can detect mould. The answer is no, it cannot detect mould. There is no way that it can. The monitor can simply estimate a particle count which is in the air at a certain size. If for instance the Sensedge device indicates elevated pm2.5 levels, this could potentially indicate mould spores that may exist in the air. Further infestation would need to determine usually with laboratory sampling to indicate this.
The device is also useful for monitoring the relative humidity levels to ensure the levels do not exceed 60%. In the case where it does exceed 60%, dehumidification can be used to reduce the humidity levels in the room.
There are a large number of these units sold into Wells Certified buildings in Australia every year. The Wells Criteria assesses several categories including the accuracy of PM2.5, TVOC, CO2, Sensor Calibration, measurement intervals and environmental display.
The most impressive part of this unit is the modular systems which allows calibration by simply swapping out the modules. Previously you would need to wait 1-2 months for a professional to calibrate the machine.
